Aluminium by End Use
Specify by what the part has to survive, not by what is easiest to buy. The alloy that lasts twenty years on a hull will stain on a facade, and the one that anodises beautifully will crack under a deep draw.
Marine & Shipbuilding
Mg-alloyed plate resists seawater and welds without losing strength. This is the series classification societies expect to see on hull plate.

ASTM B928 · EN 485 · DNV / LR / ABS approval available on request
Transport & Automotive
Weight reduction per body panel is the entire business case. Formability and weldability decide the grade.

EN 485 · ASTM B209 · IATF 16949 supply chain documentation on request
Building & Curtain Wall
Facade work is a coating problem first and a metal problem second. PVDF film thickness and anodising class are what the specifier checks.

AAMA 2605 · EN 1396 · GB/T 5237 · EN 13501-1 fire rating
Packaging & Foil
Pinhole count, elongation and surface cleanliness are the three numbers that decide whether a foil runs on your line.

ASTM B479 · EN 546 · GB/T 3198 · Food contact declaration available
Cookware & Deep Drawing
Deep drawing is a ductility test. Purity and O-temper control decide whether the blank draws or tears.

ASTM B209 · EN 485 · Anodising quality (AQ) on request
Electronics & Heat Management
Heat sinks are an extrusion geometry problem: fin height, fin pitch and flatness tolerance. 6063-T5 holds fine fins that 6061 cannot.

EN 755 · ASTM B221 · GB/T 5237.1
Solar & New Energy
Frame extrusion for PV modules, and battery casing / collector foil for storage. Anodising-grade surface plus straightness within 0.3 mm/m.

Industrial & Machining
Machining stock. Grain direction, residual stress relief (T651) and dimensional stability decide whether the part moves after it is cut.

Why end use comes first
The Same Grade Is Two Different Products in Two Industries
3003-H14 is a roofing coil in one order and a heat exchanger fin in another. The alloy and temper are identical; what differs is the gauge tolerance, the surface cleanliness and the certificate behind it. Tell us the end use and we will set the inspection to match — checking a roofing coil for pinholes is wasted effort, and shipping a pharma foil without one is a rejected container.
